Epyx Fastload – Cartridge for Accelerating Program Loading on Commodore

Epyx Fastload is a classic cartridge designed for Commodore 64 and Commodore 128 computers, primarily aimed at significantly speeding up the loading of programs from tape drives and disk drives.

The cartridge automatically launches its software upon turning on the computer and provides additional commands to simplify the operation of storage devices. By utilizing fast-loading procedures, the waiting time for program loading can be considerably shorter compared to standard Commodore procedures.

Key Features

• Designed for Commodore 64 / C64C and Commodore 128,
• Significantly accelerates program loading from disk drives,
• Supports fast loading from Datasette tape drives,

Epyx Fastload and Disk Drives

The cartridge is particularly useful when using disk drives like 1541, 1541-II, and compatible devices. Standard C64 communication procedures with the 1541 drive are relatively slow, so using Fastload can greatly reduce program and game loading times.

Epyx Fastload also comes with additional functions for diskette management, allowing it to replace some of the standard Commodore system commands.

A Classic Device for Commodore Enthusiasts

Epyx Fastload is one of the most recognizable cartridges for C64. In addition to its practical application, it is also an interesting addition to any retro-computer setup.

Compatibility: Commodore 64, C64C, Commodore 128
