Product Details

The device is a 1541 disk drive emulator for Raspberry Pi 3A+ / 3B / 3B+. The kit includes all components except the Raspberry Pi!

The package contains a USB-A to 5.5/2.1 jack power cable, an IEC serial cable, and a ready-to-use 32GB micro SD card configured for Raspberry Pi 3A+ / 3B / 3B+.

The PCB color is black.

Functionality

Pi1541 offers the ability to emulate disk images on Commodore computers using a 32GB microSD card, such as:

  • Commodore 64
  • Commodore 128
  • Commodore VIC-20
  • Commodore 16
  • Commodore Plus4

Design

The kit includes:

  • Power cable with USB plug from the included 5V power supply.
  • 5V power supply.
  • IEC serial cable for the disk drive.
  • Knob in gold, black, silver, red, and blue.

Technical Highlights, No Fluff:

  • Compatibility at its best:
Nearly 100% original compatibility, including support for many fast loaders (even those with copied originals and demo scene wonders). Forget about heuristic guessing with SD2IEC – here, the 6502 code operates in full cycle-exact mode, just like in 1982.
  • Operation Modes Like Sci-fi:
    • Minimal SD2IEC startup (for browsing PRG and D64 files).
    • Full 1541/1581 emulation after loading a disk image.
    • Reading and writing? No problem, with support for multiple channels and sequential files.
  • Classy Hardware:
    • Mounting on Raspberry Pi 3A+ / 3B / 3B+ (microcontroller on the client side).
    • PCB with logic level converter (5V CBM → 3.3V Pi).
    • IEC-connectors and chain option (cascade connection with other drives – real or emulated).
    • Version III features a 1.3" OLED display and rotary encoder for navigation – scrolling through folders like on a smartphone, not like in a joystick maze.
  • Media Support:
    • Store hundreds of D64 files on an SD card (up to 32GB+).
    • Browse using the Pi keyboard/screen or C64 commands (LOAD "",8", LOAD"",8,1).
    • Saving files? Yes! But remember: this is retro, not cloud – always back up before your cat sits on the card.
  • Power and Assembly:
    • Powered by the included 5V power supply.
    • Compact casing.
