MOS 6502 Microprocessor, DIP 40

The MOS 6502 microprocessor was widely used in the 1980s for building home computers (e.g., Apple II).

Characteristics:

• 8-bit data bus
• 16-bit address bus (address space of 64 KiB = 65536 B)
• Clocked at 1 MHz (A and B variants - from 2 to 3 MHz)
• Shortest instruction cycle: 2 clock cycles, longest: 7 clock cycles
• Average memory access (read or write): 4 clock cycles (3 for zero page)
• 56 instructions, 13 addressing modes

• Atari 400/800 and XL, XE series: 1.792 MHz (NTSC) - 1.77 MHz (PAL version)
